You look at your calendar, your bank statement, and even the clothes in your closet, and realize they belong to a version of you that doesn’t quite exist anymore. Maybe you’re successful by traditional standards, but you’re exhausted. Or maybe you’re “fine,” but you feel like you’re watching your own life through a foggy window.
This feeling is the universe’s way of tapping you on the shoulder and suggesting it’s time for an audit, a life audit.
A life audit is a comprehensive self-assessment where you take an honest, bird’s eye view of your current reality to see if it actually matches your internal values.
Living an aligned life isn’t about being perfect; it’s about making sure your energy is going where your heart is. Most of us spend our lives reacting to emails, to family demands, to societal expectations. A life audit allows you to stop reacting and start practicing intentional living.

A friend of mine, Brad, spent years dreaming of a high rise apartment in the city. He worked 50-hour weeks to afford it, furnished it with the trendiest minimalist decor, and finally moved in. Six months later, he was miserable.
During his own life audit, he realized something startling: his core value was connection to nature and community. He had built a life that was visually stunning but functionally hollow for his specific soul. He was living a “good” life, but it wasn’t an aligned life. He eventually traded the high rise for a small cottage with a garden, and his “success” finally started feeling like “happiness.”
If you’re ready to check under the hood of your own life, grab a notebook, find a quiet corner, and walk through these two pillars of alignment.
Scan your current goals. Examples: Are you trying to lose weight because you want to feel strong, or because you “should” look a certain way for an upcoming event? Are you aiming for that promotion because you love the work, or because you “should” be at a certain level by age 35? Self-assessment requires brutal honesty about who is actually steering the ship.
We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. Do the people in your life reflect the person you are becoming? An aligned life is supported by people who celebrate your growth, there for you during the tough times and not those who demand you stay small, so they stay comfortable.
The most important thing to remember during a life audit is that “misaligned” does not mean “failed.” Realizing you are out of alignment is actually a superpower. It’s the moment you regain yourself.
Once you’ve done the work of looking inward, the next step is to curate your outward environment. Alignment is easier when your physical space and daily rituals support your new direction.
Whether it’s a journal to keep your thoughts clear, a candle that signals the start of “me time,” or tools that help you organize your new, intentional schedule, the things you surround yourself with matter. They are the physical anchors of your intentional living journey.
